History

“The more you know about the past, the better prepared you are for the future.” - Theodore Roosevelt

History majors play an important role in our society. In time, history students grow to become historians, social studies teachers, archeologists, political figures and conservators. As a history major, students will focus on periods of time and world locations. They’ll learn about dictators, famine, industrialization, labor movements, ancient times and hundreds of other important periods in our civilization.

Many students majoring in history opt to double major. Popular second majors to pair with history include political science, archaeology, English, law, business and education. Students often become teachers and some also enroll in graduate studies. It’s one of the most versatile majors when it’s paired with another.

Courses a student could take on a history trajectory include American History, Chinese History, Colonization, Latin American History, Middle East History, Ancient Rome and Indigenous History.
