Ruth Benedict Book Prize Competition

Deadline: 6/15/24
Available to: Graduate Students
Award Amount: Varies The Ruth Benedict Book Prize Competition is open to the author of a scholarly book written from an anthropological perspective about a topic that engages issues and theoretical perspectives relevant to LGBTQ studies. Books submitted for the competition must have a publication date of 2023 or 2024 and may not have been submitted previously.

oSTEM Scholarship

Deadline: 6/16/24
Available to: Undergraduate & Graduate Students
Award Amount: $5,000 The oSTEM Scholarships are available to undergraduate and graduate students. You must identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, be majoring in a STEM field, and have completed at least one semester at your institution to be considered for this award.

NGPA Pilot Scholarship

Deadline: 6/30/24
Available to: Undergraduate Students & Graduate Students
Award Amount: $10,000 The NGPA Pilot Scholarships are available to students who are pursuing advanced flight training. To be considered, you must demonstrate community involvement, including support of the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, and transgender (LGBT) community.

Prism Foundation Scholarship

Award Amount: $1,000 - $5,000 The Prism Foundation Scholarship is available to undergraduate and graduate students. You must have a strong history of engagement within the API and / or LGBTQIA+ communities to be eligible for this award.

SOULE Foundation Scholarship

Award Amount: $5,000 The SOULE Foundation Scholarship is open to LGBT students of color who are enrolled full-time at a college/university. You must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 to be eligible for this award.

John Reinert Scholarship

Available to: Undergraduate & Graduate Students
Award Amount: $1,000 The John Reinert Scholarship is available to LGBTQ+ students who are currently enrolled in a basic law enforcement training program. You must be a visible, positive role model for law enforcement to be considered for this award.

LGBTQ+ Internships

Denver Element Internship

Available to: College Freshman - Graduate Students, Years 1-5
The Denver Element Internship is available to undergraduate and graduate level students. You must be enrolled in a human services, counseling, or social work degree program to be eligible for this internship. Applicants should have interest in working with working with the LGBTQIA+ community, individuals living with HIV, people experiencing homelessness/experiencing financial instability, and individuals involved in the criminal justice system. As an intern, you will receive weekly individual and group supervision from a Licensed Professional Counselor/Addictions Counselor/Social Worker, provide evaluations/assessments, do group/individual counseling, perform case management, learn DAP style clinical documentation, DSM-5 diagnosis, Medicaid billing requirements, and treatment planning in a positive and supportive environment. Internships run year-round and require a minimum commitment of 3-4 months.

Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund Summer Social Media Internship-Remote

Available to: College Freshmen through Graduate Students, Years 1-5
The TLDEF Summer Social Media Internship-Remote is available to applicants who are passionate about social, racial, economic, and gender justice. You must be proficient in trans-specific and LGBTQ+ news, events, issues, and trends to be eligible for this internship. Additionally, you must have experience with social media/digital and/or community organizing/advocacy, be adaptable, possess excellent communication and proofreading skills, be familiar with Microsoft Office and Slack/Zoom, and have reliable internet. Preference given to applicants who have experience managing a Facebook and/or Twitter account with over 10,000 followers, drafting website/social media copy, social media analytics, Adobe Creative Cloud or Canva. Fluency in Spanish is a bonus. As an intern, you will assist with updating website content, maintain the social media calendar, execute content, monitor postings, and promote TLDEF's programs, news, and events to drive social media engagement.

InterseXtions Internship

Available to: Students, Ages 14 - 19
The InterseXtions Internship is available to all NYC teens, ages 14–19, who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans*, two-spirit, gender nonconforming, questioning and/or queer. You must be able to commit to weekly meetings on Tuesdays from 5 to 7 pm and additional field trips on Fridays or weekends to be considered for this position. As an intern, you'll work to provide a safe, equitable, and creative space for other LGBTQ+ teens to have fun, explore the arts, and express themselves and their identities.

Pride Internship

Available to: College Freshmen through Graduate Students, Years 1-5
The Pride Internship is available to students with commitment to LGBT issues. Intern duties may include data entry, logistics management, organizing and maintaining supply lines and other duties as needed. You must be willing to travel 25 percent of the time, have excellent problem solving, communication and organizational skills in order to be considered for this internship.

Campus Pride Internship

Available to: Undergraduate & Graduate Students
The Campus Pride Internship is available to college students and recent graduates who possess a desire to learn more about campus organizing and social justice issues. Selected applicants will work remotely or at the home office in Charlotte, NC. Interns will observe and participate in substantive work and develop resources to support student leaders across the U.S. Part-time interns who work remotely are expected to work 3-10 hours a week; full-time interns based in the home office are expected to work 20-40 hours a week. Internships are offered in the fall, spring, and summer.

PFLAG Advocacy and Policy Summer Internship

Available to: Undergraduate & Graduate Students
The PFLAG Advocacy and Policy Summer Internship is available to college students and recent graduates who reside in the U.S. You must demonstrate commitment to LGBTQ+ equality, have experience with Google Suite, be familiar with how to use Associated Press (AP) Style, and possess excellent written, verbal, research, and organizational skills to be considered for this internship. Additionally, you must commit to working 20 hours per week, either remotely or at the PFLAG national office in Washington, D.C. Preference given to applicants who have demonstrated interest through a previous internship experience, volunteerism, or active pre-professional organization involvement in a government, public affairs, or nonprofit sector. The Advocacy and Policy intern will gain participative experience in federal and state legislation and advocacy through learning the structure, procedures, and practices of legislative branches, utilizing SalesForce and Salsa software, and policy research/reporting.

OutRight Action International Communications Internship

Available to: Undergraduate & Graduate Students
The OutRight Action International Communications Internship is available to undergraduate and graduate level students. You must have a passion for human rights, LGBT issues, and gender equality to be considered for this internship. Additionally, you should have experience in digital media for school/other newspaper, and have excellent information synthesis, copy-editing, and research skills. Preference given to multi-lingual applicants with graphic/web design and videography/photography experience who have an interest in non-profit communications. As a Communications intern, you will distribute digital media for online marketing and social platforms, research key topics for press releases, support SEO planning and analysis, and work with the team to create graphics and blog posts. Internships are offered during the spring, fall, and summer. This position is located at OutRight headquarters in New York, New York.

The Center Social Work/Direct Service Internship

Available to: Undergraduate & Graduate Students
The Center Social Work/Direct Service Internship is available to students who are pursuing a master's degree in social work (MSW), master's degree in counseling (MHC), and/or addiction counseling certification (CASAC-T). You must coordinate with your school's field placement department/field placement advisors to be eligible for this internship. This internship is located in New York, NY.

United We Dream Texas Advocacy Internship

Available to: Undergraduate & Graduate Students
The UWD Texas Advocacy Internship is available to applicants who are passionate about equality and immigration issues. You must be a critical thinker, self-motivated, and possess excellent organizational, verbal, and written skills to be eligible for this internship. Preference given to multilingual applicants who are familiar with remote platforms such as Zoom/Slack/G-Suite and who have volunteer or work experience in immigrant rights/racial justice. As in intern, you will support local advocacy campaigns, co-develop public education materials, grow strategic relationships, conduct research to inform strategy, and support the advocacy training program through development of materials. Interns are expected to work 12 hours per week, remotely. United We Dream is the largest immigrant youth-led community in the country, focusing on opening doors for LGBTQ/diverse immigrant youth, building innovative technology systems, clearing pathways to education, stopping deportations, and creating alliances across social movements.
