General Fastweb

1. Is there a cost to be a member of Fastweb?

There is no charge to use the Fastweb service or to access any of the information Fastweb provides.

Fastweb is a site that matches the information you enter in your profile to scholarship, college, job and internship opportunities. You may use the information that Fastweb provides to apply for scholarships, discover prospective colleges, explore internship possibilities or learn about part-time jobs in your area.

2. What is Fastweb's Privacy Policy?

Fastweb is committed to providing a quality scholarship matching service while at the same time protecting students. Our service remains free for students because we allow colleges and marketing partners to reach students. However, during the registration process, you can indicate whether or not you would like to be reached by these third parties. Even if you decline, the service is still free.

To view Fastweb's Privacy Policy in its entirety, click here.

3. Can I fill out the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) on Fastweb? Can I get my FSA ID on Fastweb?

No. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is not related to the Fastweb scholarship search. To fill out the FAFSA form or find out more information about the FAFSA, please visit their website: StudentAid.gov.

Fastweb does not have your FSA ID information on file. To access or create your FSA ID, visit StudentAid.gov

4. How do I add a scholarship to your site?

The Fastweb Research Department handles all additions to the scholarship database. To access that information, simply click here.

5. I used to receive email notifications from Fastweb but they have stopped. Why?

You may be having this problem because your ISP/email provider is blocking our messages. Many ISP/email providers have taken it upon themselves to block certain senders, even if you've made adjustments to your filter settings.

Unfortunately, if this is the case, Fastweb is limited in that we cannot control how providers decide to filter messages. You may want to contact your ISP/e-mail provider (if you have not already) to inform them of this issue and ask whether anything can be done to receive our e-mails.

6. I am interested in changing the e-mail address on my account? How do I do that?

To update your e-mail address, login and click on “my profile” in the top, right corner. Once on your profile, you will see two tabs to the left that read: “my profile” and “my account.” Select “my account” and enter the new e-mail address into the e-mail address section. After you've done that, you have the option to make the new e-mail address your primary e-mail.

7. On the old Fastweb, I had lists of colleges that I was comparing as well as notifications on my calendar. Where have they gone?

We are releasing our new site in phases and because we are doing so, some of the features from our previous site won't be available to users for a few months. Please be patient with us at this time as we continually work toward creating a better user experience for you.

8. I am currently trying to sign up for Fastweb; however, the registration won't accept my majors and/or colleges?

There could be several reasons for the problem you're experiencing. The most common could be that your major or college does not match any scholarships within our database, meaning there isn't a scholarship for exactly what you're looking for. Also, a drop down menu should appear once you begin typing in a major or college; however, it may take a few seconds to load. And finally, if you are trying to insert "Bachelor's Degree" or "Masters" in front of your major, you will yield no results. Simply type in the major.

9. I'm an International student -- why can't I sign up for Fastweb?

Fastweb requires a U.S. address ONLY during the registration process. However, our sister site edupass.org contains great information for international students seeking a schooling and financial aid and scholarship experience here in the U.S.

10. How do I close my account on Fastweb?

To close your account Log in and click on My Profile on the top right. Click on the My Account tab. At the bottom of the My Account page there is a Cancel Account section. Click on Cancel Account to open up the section. Click on Cancel Membership.

If you are positive you want to cancel your account, click OK on the message that asks: Are you sure you want to cancel your account? This is a permanent action and cannot be undone.

Scholarships

1. How do I apply for the scholarships in my results?

To apply for the scholarships in your list, log into your profile at Fastweb and click the "Scholarships" tab. Once you reach your Search Results, click on the award that interests you.

In most cases, you will have to visit the sponsor's website to download an application, apply online or find a mailing address to request more information. You can visit the sponsor's website by clicking on the link provided under the heading "Web site." This link is located just above the scholarship description.

If the sponsor does not have a website and would prefer that you send away for an application via postal mail, Fastweb will list the sponsor's mailing address in the description for you so that you can easily request more information.

2. How do I add more scholarships to my list or find a specific scholarship?

The awards that are listed on your Scholarship tab are the awards that match your profile. If you are looking for a specific scholarship, and it is not listed in your scholarship results, then your profile does not currently match the scholarship requirements. We recommend that you update your profile so that it is the most accurate representation of your current qualifications in order to locate better award results.

New awards are added and updated daily. If your award is not listed, we would recommend checking back at a later time.

3. How do I know if I've won a scholarship?

If you are a chosen as a scholarship winner, the sponsor will contact you directly, usually via phone call, letter, or email. Fastweb will NOT notify you if you are an award recipient.

In addition, due to the cost of notifying all applicants of their application status, scholarship providers only notify an applicant if they win a scholarship.

Many scholarship providers now post winner information on their websites. If the deadline has passed, we recommend checking the individual sponsor's site before making any effort to contact them otherwise.

4. Does Fastweb have scholarships for adult returning/graduate students?

Whether you've been out of school for a few years or a few decades, Fastweb's database has scholarships available for returning students seeking to go back to school.

You may find that some of the questions in the profile are directed to younger students. If you run across a question that you don't know how to answer because of your returning status, check out these tips that help you to complete your profile:

Many students returning to college do not recall their GPA the last time they were enrolled. For Fastweb purposes, an estimation of your last GPA is acceptable. Use the information below to estimate your GPA to the best of your ability:

GPA:
A = 4.0 (Excellent)
B = 3.0 (Good)
C = 2.0 (Satisfactory/Average)
D = 1.0 (Below Average)
F = 0.0 (Poor)

You can leave any test score field blank. They are not needed to complete your profile.

For year in school, please enter the year (e.g. junior in college) you were the last time you were enrolled. If you have taken classes at multiple schools or dropped out and don't remember what year you were, you may estimate your year in school to the best of you ability.

If you aren't enrolled in a college yet, and if you also don't know what you will be studying, you may enter your prospective college and prospective major (or area of academic study).

If you are 24 years of age or older, you are considered an independent student. You do not need to include your parent's information; instead, please enter your own "head of household" information.

5. Does Fastweb have scholarships for international students?

If you are interested in studying in the U.S. as an international student, you will be able to open a Fastweb profile and search for scholarships. Please note that if you are not planning to study in the United States, you will not be able to use the Fastweb service. However, you must provide a U.S. address when completing registration.

To create a new profile in our system, you will need a working e-mail address. Once you have one, go to Fastweb and click on "Click Here to Register for Fastweb" to begin creation of a new profile.

If you have not taken the PSAT, SAT or ACT, you can leave those fields blank. They are not necessary to complete your profile.

If you do not have a traditional American grade point average, you will need to approximate your unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale and answer accordingly.

If your work was deemed 'excellent' for a course, your grade point would be 4.0 for that particular course. You may use the chart below to help guide you:

4.0 = Excellent
3.0 = Good
2.0 = Satisfactory/Average
1.0 = Below Average
0.0 = Poor

You may leave the phone number field blank. It is not needed to complete the Fastweb profile.

For more information on studying in the U.S. as an international student, please visit www.edupass.org.

6. Are the scholarships on Fastweb legitimate?

Please note that while we cannot guarantee that all scholarships posted on our site are 100% legitimate, we perform many detailed research steps before deciding to display every scholarship on Fastweb.

Fastweb has operated successfully for over 10 years, and in that time, developed trusting relationships with numerous scholarship sponsors. We also take many steps to insure scholarship legitimacy, which includes verifying that all contact information is accurate/functional, testing the sponsor's Web site, as well as researching the sponsor thoroughly.

If you are skeptical about a scholarship you see on Fastweb (one that seems “too good to be true” or one that asks you to pay a fee to view more information) feel free to contact us at info@Fastweb.com and we will research the opportunity in greater detail.

My Profile & Password

1. How do I update my profile?

To make a change to any of the information in your Fastweb profile, you can update by going to Fastweb and log in as returning user.

Click on the "My Profile" link in the upper right corner of any Fastweb screen. Next, click the "Edit" link in the upper right corner of the screen directly across from your name. This will allow you to edit your information.

2. Is my profile information private?

Yes, your profile information is private by default. It is secure and viewable only by you.

3. How do I remove all of my personal information (including my email address) and cancel my Fastweb account?

Send an email to info@Fastweb.com, subject line: Close Account. To help us better serve you please provide a brief description of why you would like to close your account.,

4. I forgot my password. How can I access my account?

Follow the instructions for updating your profile in Question 1. You can have your forgotten password e-mailed to you at anytime by clicking on the "Forgot Password?" link in the login screen. Alternatively, you can use this link to have your password e-mailed to you.

5. How do I decide which Fastweb emails I would like to receive?

Follow the instructions for making your profile private in Question 2. Check or uncheck the appropriate boxes in the under the subhead Subscriptions to subscribe or unsubscribe from the various Fastweb mailings.

6. Should I enter activities I'm only interested in or ones that I am currently involved with?

Your scholarship, college, and job and internship results are based on the information displayed in your profile. Therefore, we recommend that you select activities you are currently or have been involved in. This will maximize your scholarship search by providing a greater number of more accurate results.

7. Can I set up two or more profiles under the same email address?

Fastweb requires each member to have a unique e-mail address and password in order to search our database for individually tailored information. For this reason, you may not register more than one person under the same e-mail address.

To create multiple accounts, you'll need a unique e-mail address for each profile you wish to create. A number of different sites on the Web provide free e-mail accounts. We suggest using any one of these free sites, such as Hotmail.com or Yahoo.com. You may also want to check with your Internet service provider to see if they offer free additional accounts for families.

Registration

1. Why does the field go blank when I type in my intended major?

When registering for Fastweb, our intended major field has a dropdown menu that appears whenever you begin typing in your major. If a dropdown menu is not appearing, you may need to update your Internet Browser or enable JavaScript.

2. My intended major does not appear in the dropdown menu–why is that?

If the major you are looking for does not appear in the dropdown menu, it is because we do not have scholarships in our database for that particular major–you will have to pick something else related. Also, please only type in the major and not “Bachelors of Science” or “Master's degree,” etc. before the major.

3. Why am I getting a message that my mailing address is invalid?

The system has difficulty recognizing apartment numbers or units at the end of address. Please insert the street name only. For example, if your mailing address is 123 Road Avenue, Apt #1; insert: 123 Road Avenue.

4. Why does the field go blank when I type in my college of interest?

When registering for Fastweb, our college of interest field has a dropdown menu that appears whenever you begin typing in your college. If a dropdown menu is not appearing, you may need to update your Internet Browser or enable JavaScript.

5. My college of interest does not appear in the dropdown menu–why is that?

If the college you are looking for does not appear in the dropdown menu, it is because we do not have scholarships in our database for that particular college–you will have to pick something else related. Even if your school is not listed, you'll still be matched with national as well as local and regional scholarships.

6. How can I enter a career objective if it is not listed?

If your career objective is not listed, it simply means that there are no scholarships in our database that require that career objective as a prerequisite. You can select something close to your intended career objective instead–this will not hurt your scholarship matching chances.

7. What should I enter for GPA if I don't remember mine or haven't started college yet?

If you have not yet started college, please enter your high school GPA.

8. The system is saying that my e-mail is already listed or invalid–why is that?

It is likely that you already have an existing account with Fastweb. You can only register each e-mail address one time. If you need your old account deleted, notify us at info@fastweb.com.

9. The system is not accepting my username or password–what should I do?

When completing Step 3, please be sure that you are inserting a username that is not an e-mail address and also that the username does not have spaces. A username should look like this: JaneD32.

Also, when inserting a password, make sure it as at least 6 characters–letters, numbers, and underscores only.

10. I'm trying to sign up another child on Fastweb but the system keeps saying my e-mail is invalid or already in use–why is that?

Unfortunately, users cannot have two accounts on one e-mail address at this time. We recommend editing the info on the profile with the new info you would like to input or have us close out the account so you can start fresh with a new profile.

If you still want to keep several accounts because you still have students in college or multiples, we recommend signing up with a free e-mail service like Google or Yahoo. This also helps you keep the various offers and scholarships separate for each child.
